EACHANARI - VINAYAGAR TEMPLE

Lord Vinayaga is the first and formost Hindu deity and The symbolises pranav manthara “Ohm” the sound which is ever last, and everlive at the creation and destruction of this universe. Lord Vinayaga symbolises Ohm Pranav manthara is a presiding deity of this temple, and this temple is situated 10km away from Coimbatore to Pollachi route.

The Moolavar of this temple is actually made for the installation at Perur, Arulmighu Patteswarar Temple and since the cart carrying moolavar struck down at this place from Madurai and Eachanari become the blessed place of Lord Vinayaga. Hence the Vinayagar in this place is called as “Eachanari Vinayagar”, one of the famous vinayaga of whole Tamilnadu. Special poojas are done during Kiruthikai, Poornima, Amavasya and Chathurthi. Lord Vinayagar is the residing deity of Eachanari Temple.

PULIYAKULAM VINAYAGAR TEMPLE - PULIYA KULAM

PULIYAKULAM VINAYAGAR TEMPLE – THIS IS THE ASIA’S BIGGEST GANESHA TEMPLE, THIS TEMPLE IS SITUATED IN PULIYAKULAM MAIN ROAD. LORD SRI VINAYAGAR, MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS GANESHA, PILLAYAR IN SOUTH INDIA, GANAPATHI OR VIGNESWARAR, IS THE FOREMOST GOD FOR HINDUS. VINAYAGAR REPRESENTS KNOWLEDGE AND HE IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE REMOVER AND THE DESTROYER OF OBSTACLES. ALSO KNOWN AS THE ELEPHANT GOD, HE IS THE ELDEST SON OF LORD SHIVA AND HIS CONSORT, PARVATHI (SHAKTI). HIS YOUNGER BROTHER IS LORD MURGAN.

HINDUS LOOK UPON THE COUNTENANCE OF VINAYAGAR WITH GREAT AFFECTION. HE HAS THE HEAD OF AN ELEPHANT, COMPLETE WITH CURVED TRUNK AND BIG EARS. AS THE ELEPHANT IS THE SYMBOL OF EXTREME INTELLIGENCE, LIKEWISE, VINAYAGAR IS THE EMBODIMENT OF WISDOM AND INTELLIGENCE. THERE ARE FOUR PODGY HANDS JOINED TO HUMAN POT-BELLIED BODY. ONE HAND HOLDS A TRISHUL OR TRIDENT, THE SECOND AN ANKUSH OR GOAD MADE FROM HIS OWN BROKEN TOOTH; THE THIRD HOLDS A LOTUS AND THE FOURTH A ROSARY OR, A MODAK OR MODAKAM, HIS FAVOURITE SWEET. SOMETIMES, THERE IS A TRAY OF MODAKAM [KOLIKATTAI] IN FRONT OF HIM OR HELD BY HIS TRUNK. VINAYAGAR IS BOTH THE LORD OF OBSTACLES AS WELL AS THE REMOVER OF OBSTACLES. WHEN WE DO EVIL THINGS OR WHEN THE TIME IS NOT RIGHT, HE PLACES OBSTACLES IN OUR PATH. WHEN WE TAKE THE CORRECT PATH, HE REMOVES THE ROOT OF OUR TROUBLES.

THE DIYANALINGAM - VELLINGIRI

The DhyanalingaM, Multi - Religious Temple situated at Vellingiri foothills about 30kms from Coimbatore is very much a part of this glorious tradition. Dhyanalinga was consecrated by Sadhguru Jaggi, Vasudev, a realized Master, Mystic and Yogi, after three years of intense process of prana prathista. Measuring 13' 9'', Dhyanalingam is the largest mercury based live Linga in the world. It does not require minutes within the sphere of Dhyanalinga is enough to make even those unaware of meditation to experience a state of deep meditativeness and feel the divine energy that overflows from this glorious form. The free spanning dome that enshrines the Dhyanalingam measures 77' in diameter and is the largest of its kind in the world. This divine instrument radiates seven different qualities on seven different days of the week by which one can derive various benefits.

PERUR PATTESHWARAR THIRUKOIL - PERUR

The Garba graha of this temple was built by Karikala Chola in the early Christian era. It is a Shiva shrine with a Swayambumoorthy.

The Sthalapuranam states that when the calf of Kamadhenu was playing in the forest of arasu trees its legs got plunged into a hard object from which blood gushed out. It was then discovered that the object was nothing but a sacred Siva Lingam.

Later on a temple came to built over the Moolasthanam which attracted large concourse of people throughout the land. The place became a Vaipu Sthalam in Saivalore. Since it was sung by Saint Appar and by Saint Sundarar in their Devaram.

JAYAMANGALA ANJANEYAR THIRUKOIL - IDUGAMPALAYAM

In Idugampalayam, tentatively around 655 years ago during KrishnaDevaRaya period the 5'6" statue of Lord Anjaneyar was constructed by one called ViyasaRayar. The most highlighting special feature of this statue is that its distinctive posture (not found anywhere)and was made of a single monolithic rock, called as "Suyambu". On the right side of Lord Anjaneyar lies statues of Lord Vinayaka and Nandhi both were also carved out of a "Suyambu". To the pivot side of Lord Vinayaga,carvings of Kamadhenu shedding milk to Lingam can be found.

Behind these statues a Suyambu Lingeswarar is seen. In an event when Lord Rama requested Anjaneya to fetch a Linga for his Pooja and since Anjaneya did not turnout for a longtime, Rama made the above said Suyambu Lingeswarar.On his return Lord Anjaneya tried to uproot the Rama's Linga to replace it with the Linga he brought and failed. So the Linga brought by Lord Anjaneyar is also placed beside the Suyambu Lingeswarar.

ARANGANATHASAMY THIRUKOIL - KARAMADAI

At Karamadai, a place near Mettupalayam there lived people by the name " Thottiyars ". One of the Thottiya had a (Karai Pasu) cow. All off a sudden, for a few days the cow did not give him milk.

Filled with anger the thottiya followed the cow and found his cow shedding milk to a Kaarai bush, the thottiya became very furious and with his knife banged the bush and a sound exploded from the bush and blood started gushing out of the bush, people knowing this rushed to the spot and found a Suyambu Lingam inside the bush, the same night the God appeared in the dream of thottiya and ordered the thottiya to glorify him with " Chandana Kaapu ", So did the thottiya and found that it was a beautiful Ranganathar Suyambu (which is said to be growing in size every year).

VELLIYANGIRIANDAVAR THIRUKOIL -THIRUTHURAIPOONDI

VELLIYANGIRI IS A BEAUTIFUL TEMPLE SITUATED IN ONE AMONGST THE FIVE HILLS OF HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE. THE FIVE HILLS SYMBOLICALLY REPRESENTS THE FIVE DIFFERENT FACES OF LORD SHIVA. THIS IS THE ONLY TEMPLE WHERE PANCHALINGA CAN BE SEEN. LORD BRAHMA WAS FAST ASLEEP AND LACKED IN HIS DUTY. SO TO OVERCOME HIS SIN HE STARTED MEDITATING AT HIMALAYAS WHERE HE GOT SHIVA DHARISANAM AND WAS GUIDED TO CONTINUE HIS MEDITATION IN THE NAME OF PATTIMUNI AT PERUR.

METTUPALAYAM - VANAPATHRAKALIAMMAN KOVIL

Mettupalayam is a famous tourist destination, which comes while traveling from Coimbatore to Ooty. It is located 45 km from Coimbatore. Vanabadrakali Amman Temple, Coimbatore is situated in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The temple is located on the banks of river Bhavani on Nilgiri hills, which is nearly 5 km from Mettupalayam.

The presiding Goddess at Vanabadrakali Amman Temple is Sri Vanabadhrakaaliamman. The local devotees belief that their wishes for marriage and child will be fulfilled if they worship at the temple. A copper talisman is offered at the feet of goddess during the poojas. The copper talisman is accepted to be magical relieving devotees from black magic and body pains, provides growth in business.

MARUTHAMALI - MURUGAN TEMPLE

Marudhamalai Hills Arulmigu Subramanyaswamy Temple is situated at a height of about 500 feet in a plateau on the Western Ghats, fifteen kilometers OF north west Coimbatore.The Devasthanam has provided 3 buses from the foothill to reach the temple on top.

Several amenities and facilities have been provided for the benefit of the devotees to worship the deity. A good motorable road has been laid upto the hilltop by the Temple Devasthanam.

Marudhamalai Hills, dedicated to Lord Muruga (Dandâyudhapâni) is classified under Kunruthoradal, one of the six main abodes of the god. Set against the backdrop of hazy blue hills dotted with shrubs and bushes of varied hues, the sacred shrine verily reflects the picture of Lord Muruga, magnificently mounted on his vehicle peacock, flaunting and swaying its feathers and plume in full bloom.

The Sanskrit word "achalam" denotes mountain. As the mountain here abounded in marudham trees, it came to be known as Marudhachalam. Marudhamalai is also called Marundhumalai, for it is overgrown with shrubs and bushes of medicinal properties. Hence, Marudhamalai is befittingly given the name Marudhamalai (Mountain of Medicines). This is referred to as Marudhamalvarai, Marudhavarai, Marudha Verpu, Marudha Kundru, Marudhavôngal, Kamarpirangu, Marudhachalam, Velvarai in Perur Puranam.

The holy shrine of Marudhamalai is believed to remove both physical and mental afflictions and attachments as the hill abounds in Medicinal herbs. The pleasant breeze and the peaceful environments bring harmony and quietness to the minds of devotees. The saints and holymen used to prefer this hill and came here in search of 'KayaKalpam' the Divine medicine for Salvation. The celestial cow 'Kamadhenu' is believed to have grazed in the pastures of this hillock and drunk from the springs under the Marudham tree as per Perur Puranam written by Kachiappa Munivar.
